It’s head coach hiring season, and the Los Angeles Chargers are among the teams looking for a new coach. The betting odds have one interesting coach as the favorite to land the job.

SportsBetting.ag has listed Jim Harbaugh as the heavy favorite to become the next Chargers head coach. They have Harbaugh favored at 1-2 odds. The next candidate on the odds list is current Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who has 5-1 odds.

Below are the odds for some of the top candidates:

Jim Harbaugh 1/2
Ben Johnson 5/1
Dan Quinn 7/1
Bill Belichick 8/1
Eric Bieniemy 11/1
Aaron Glenn 12/1
Brian Callahan 12/1
Patrick Graham 14/1
Steve Wilks 14/1

The Chargers may have the most desirable job among all the vacancies. They have a franchise quarterback in place in Justin Herbert, while all the other teams with coach vacancies don’t have a solidified quarterback.

There is heavy speculation that Harbaugh might leave Michigan. He and the Wolverines are facing potential discipline from the NCAA over two issues — an alleged 2020 recruiting violation, in addition to the sign stealing. Harbaugh also just peaked by leading Michigan to a national championship. If he were to leave, going out on top might be the time to do it. Harbaugh had some trouble getting interest from NFL teams in recent years, but he wouldn’t have the same issue now.

There’s a lot to like about the Chargers job. Are they enough of a draw to lure Harbaugh away from Michigan? We will find out.
