They play the same position, the play in the same town, they have a similar hairstyle, and now one is getting confused for the other.
Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon says that fans keep approaching him thinking that he’s Todd Gurley, who is the Los Angeles Rams’ star running back.
“I don’t like to get confused with anybody, but it is what it is. People just see the dreads and go, ‘Oh, it’s Todd!'” Gordon said via ESPN’s Eric D. Williams.
Gordon shared a story on Adam Schefter’s podcast that illustrated his point. He said that he had an encounter with a fan who insisted he was Gurley and even thought he was lying. Gordon says that precipitated an argument.
Apart from the dreadlocks, the two really don’t look that similar. But perhaps there’s something about both being top running backs from the LA pro football teams that confuses people. They also happen to both be from the 2015 draft class, meaning they’ve been in the NFL the same amount of time too.
Though he doesn’t like being confused for someone else, Gordon does admit he’d like to be like Gurley in one regard. You can probably guess what he means.
