The Los Angeles Chargers have moved on from one of their most experienced veterans.
Offensive lineman Corey Linsley has been released by the Chargers, the team announced on Wednesday. Linsley is expected to retire.

The Chargers cleared more than $10 million in salary cap space back in February by reducing Linsley’s base salary to the veteran minimum, which was the first sign that the center was planning to retire. The team will gain an additional $1.2 million by releasing Linsley and have a dead cap hit of $2.6 million each season in 2024 and 2025, according to Spotrac.
Linsley spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before signing a 5-year, $62.5 million contract with the Chargers in 2021. He made the Pro Bowl in his first season in L.A. and was a team captain for three consecutive years.
The Chargers will now have to replace their starting center heading into 2024.
