Charlie Weis reportedly interested in returning to NFL as offensive coordinator

December 23, 2018 by Steve DelVecchio • Comments

Charlie Weis has been away from the NFL for several seasons and out of coaching since 2014, but he is apparently looking to return to the sideline in 2019.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Weis has expressed interest in landing an offensive coordinator position in the NFL next season. Weis, who has worked as a television analyst and in a role with Sirius Radio over the past year, said he would be open to taking the right position and has the support of his wife.

Weis’s last NFL job was as offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2010. He served as the head coach at the University of Kansas from 2012-2014.

Weis, 62, made a name for himself with his time as an assistant with the New England Patriots at the start of the Tom Brady era. With rumors swirling that Josh McDaniels could explore head coaching possibilities again after the season, it will be interesting to see if Weis could consider returning to the Pats.
