Charlie Whitehurst arm-wrestled punter Brett Kern for No. 6 and lost
Charlie Whitehurst has worn No. 6 throughout his entire NFL and collegiate careers, but his run with that jersey number ends in 2014. Unlike other players across the league who use cold hard cash and other monetary-based methods of solving jersey disputes, Whitehurst and Tennessee Titans punter Brett Kern decided to compete for No. 6 the old fashioned way — arm-wrestling.
Yup, the punter won. Whitehurst posted a photo of his new No. 12 jersey on Instagram Tuesday and admitted defeat like a man.
“Arm-wrestled the punter for #6 and lost #itwasagoodrun6 #13years,” Whitehurst wrote.
Kern isn’t even that jacked, but he probably just wanted it more.
In an era where we see players pay thousands for a specific jersey number or trade a year’s supply of diapers for it, arm-wrestling is officially my favorite way of settling this common issue.
