The Curse of Too Much Backfield Depth has afflicted the Kansas City Chiefs, and now they’re looking long and hard for a remedy.
After announcing contract extensions for both running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware on Thursday, the Chiefs are “working on” trading away third-year back Knile Davis, according to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com adds that Davis had requested a trade from the team weeks ago.
True. Davis made the request weeks ago, Chiefs on the case. RT @JasonColeBR: Hearing #Chiefs working on a trade of RB Knile Davis.

The 24-year-old Davis rushed for just 72 yards and one touchdown for the Chiefs in 2015. With Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles set to make his return from a torn ACL and now multi-year extensions for both West and Ware, Davis has become even more dispensable than he already was.
While ball security is a persistent problem for Davis, he at least has the talent to succeed as a higher-volume back in a different environment. A team looking for help in short-yardage and red-zone situations could pounce at the opportunity to land the University of Arkansas product.
