Chris Culliver arrested for alleged hit and run, possession of brass knuckles
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that the same dude who got in big trouble Super Bowl week for his homophobic remarks also got arrested for an alleged hit and run and … to top it all off, possession of some brass knuckles.
Chris Culliver, a fourth-year defensive back for the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested on Friday on felony charges of alleged hit and run and possession of the brass knuckles. Culliver allegedly hit a bicyclist and fled the scene. He was followed by a witness who saw him flee, and the witness cornered him in with his car. Culliver allegedly got out of his car, threatened the witness with brass knuckles, and hit the witness’ car as he left.
Police arrived on the scene and found the brass knuckles in Culliver’s car and arrested him. He was arrested for the two felonies and a misdemeanor for hitting the witness’ car.
Culliver was booked into jail and bailed out, according to KTVU.
“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent matter involving Chris Culliver,” the 49ers said in a statement released to KTVU. “We will remain in contact with Chris and the local authorities as we continue to gather the facts regarding this situation. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will reserve further comment at this time.”
Culliver was drafted by the Niners out of South Carolina in 2011. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL.
The week of the Super Bowl in 2013, Culliver made headlines for his anti-gay remarks, for which he later apologized. He also made headlines in April for his offensive comments about women.
