A former NFL Pro Bowler is making it official after a few years out of the game.
In a post to social media on Wednesday, veteran wide receiver TY Hilton formally announced his retirement. Hilton said that “it’s time for me to retire from the game of football and begin a new chapter” and issued several messages of gratitude as well, including to the late former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Hilton, now 36 years old, was originally a Colts draft pick back in 2012 (in the third round at No. 92 overall). He went on to make four Pro Bowl teams in Indianapolis and also posted five separate seasons of 1,000 yards receiving or more. That included 2016 when Hilton led the entire NFL with 1,448 receiving yards.
The former FIU star Hilton would end up leaving the Colts after the 2021 season amid a struggle with injuries over the previous few years. He then got a brief chance to play for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 but made just three appearances and caught only seven total passes.
Hilton had been out of the NFL for the last three seasons and is now formally calling it quits. Interestingly enough, Hilton is already at the age that his son is now playing for a notable college football program.
