Chris Long to work out for Patriots

Chris Long has added the New England Patriots to the list of teams on his free agency tour.

ESPN’s Trey Wingo reports that Long will visit the Patriots Monday and work out for the AFC East team.

In addition to the Patriots, Long reportedly has visited with the Falcons, Redskins and Cowboys. He is said to be interested in playing for a contender, and the Patriots certainly fit that bill.

Long, 30, was released by the Rams in February. The former No. 2 overall pick has only recorded three sacks in the past two seasons. He posted double-digit sack totals in 2011 and 2012.
