Christian McCaffrey may have gotten a bit confused and thought he was on a basketball court at one point during Sunday’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
The 49ers were leading in the second half of their 42-19 win over the Eagles when McCaffrey tried to draw a 15-yard late hit penalty on veteran defensive lineman Fletcher Cox. If you only caught the tail end of the play, you might have thought Cox tossed McCaffrey to the ground.
Fortunately, the nearest official saw the entire sequence. McCaffrey flopped so bad that the ref even laughed about it.

If that happened on an NBA court, McCaffrey would have been hit with a technical foul.
There was a lot of hostility during the NFC Championship Game rematch, so perhaps McCaffrey thought he could take advantage of that with the flop attempt.
McCaffrey finished with 133 total yards and a touchdown in San Francisco’s blowout win. He should just stick to making defenders miss rather than trying to secure 15 free yards.
