Report: Coin toss referee Clete Blakeman to officiate Super Bowl 50
Clearly, the NFL had no issue with Clete Blakeman’s handling of the coin toss in the Green Bay-Arizona game.
Why? Blakeman has reportedly been chosen to officiate Super Bowl 50, according to FootballZebras.com.
It will be Blakeman’s first Super Bowl assignment after eight years of working in the NFL. He has consistently graded out in the top tier of NFL officials, and only once has he not been chosen to officiate in the playoffs since he became eligible to do so.
Blakeman has been in the headlines for his role in the coin flip that wasn’t to start overtime of the NFC divisional round playoff game that saw Arizona get the ball on a retoss and score to win the game, much to the ire of Green Bay. Blakeman was involved in another curious coin toss incident during the regular season, too. We can’t wait to see all of the prop bets that will arise beyond the usual coin toss ones. Will it flip?
