Coin flip becomes mess in Packers-Cardinals overtime
The coin flip preceding overtime in Saturday’s divisional round playoff game between the Cardinals and Packers was the cherry on top of an unreal game.
Somehow, someway the coin tossed by referee Clete Blakeman did not actually flip.
Have you ever seen such a thing? C’mon, Clete. It’s all in the thumb! You ding the coin with the thumb to get it to flip!
With the coin not actually flipping, the officials did the coin flip over again. The Cardinals won the flip and elected to receive. Naturally they went down the field thanks to the heroics of Larry Fitzgerald and scored to win the game.
Let’s think about this for a second: which was the more improbable event — the coin not flipping or Rodgers completing the Hail Mary? I’ll still stick with the Hail Mary.
Anyway, here’s the culprit:
This is the overtime coin from the AZ game, the one that didn't flip. @CardsMarkD let me get my grubby hands on it. pic.twitter.com/36HqO8RS0J
