Cody Kessler day-to-day with ‘painful’ chest injury
The Cleveland Browns’ quarterbacks continue to get banged up, with third-string QB Cody Kessler the latest to suffer an injury.
Kessler hurt his ribs on a hit during the Browns’ loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, which led the team to bring in the recently signed backup Charlie Whitehurst. Kessler was looking pretty good and threw a touchdown pass before suffering his injury late in the first quarter, so losing him would spell even worse news for Cleveland.
It sounds like the rookie out of USC is day-to-day.

X-rays on Kessler’s chest came back negative, which is good news. Right now it seems like Kessler being able to play will depend on his pain tolerance.

The Browns plan to continue checking on Kessler and testing him to see how he is doing.
In addition to Kessler being hurt, Whitehurst hurt his knee late in the game, leading the team to play Terrelle Pryor at quarterback. Browns head coach Hue Jackson thinks Whitehurst will be OK.
