Report: Colin Kaepernick met with John Elway on Thursday

The Denver Broncos appear to still very much be in the hunt for Colin Kaepernick.

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, Kapernick met with Broncos general manager John Elway in Denver on Thursday, which is at least the second meeting the two sides have had since March 15.

There is no word as to the nature of the meeting, but notably, it took place on the same day that Kaepernick’s $11.9 million salary for 2016 became fully guaranteed. At the very least, it means that the 49ers have given Kaepernick permission to seek a trade.

The Broncos are still without a real solution at quarterback, unless you count Mark Sanchez. While some believe they’re still waiting with the ultimate intention of bringing Kaepernick on board, they’re reportedly unwilling to give up more than a fourth round pick for him and want him to take a significant pay cut. The two sides seem to be at a standstill.
