If Colin Kaepernick wants to play for the Denver Broncos in 2016, he will have to agree to earn about half as much as he would if he remained with the San Francisco 49ers.
Jason Cole of Bleacher Report is reporting that the Broncos have asked Kaepernick to lower his salary to roughly $7 million for next season.
Source indicated that #Broncos have asked QB Colin Kaepernick to take a pay cut to approximately $7M for 2016 season if #49ers trade him.

Kaepernick’s contract for 2016 is set to become guaranteed at midnight on Thursday. If he remains with the 49ers, he will earn $11.9 million in base salary and another $4 million or so in bonuses. Is he willing to give up roughly $8 million to play for the defending champs?
Probably not, which is why the Broncos have reportedly not exchanged any serious proposals with San Francisco. Denver has roughly $2 million in salary cap space at the moment and would likely have to give up at least a third-round pick to acquire Kaepernick.
There’s still reason to believe the Broncos are waiting to see how the situation with Kaepernick shakes out, but a trade seems highly unlikely at this point.
