Not even Colin Kaepernick’s NFL workout can come without controversy.
Kaepernick will have a workout on Saturday that was arranged by the NFL, both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday. After news of the workout was reported, Kaepernick said he had just learned of the news. He said he was in shape and had been ready for the moment.
I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.

Kaepernick wrote in his tweet that he “can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday,” which is setting himself up for disappointment. NFL teams have games on Sunday, so it’s unlikely a head coach would attend. Some GMs might be able to make it, but it will likely be other club representatives attending.
Schefter says Kaepernick’s people were not informed of the workout until Tuesday morning. Kaepernick’s representatives were hoping for a Tuesday workout, but the league set the date for a Saturday.
As Colin Kaepernick tweeted, the NFL didn't inform his reps of Saturday's workout in Atlanta until this morning. Kaepernick's reps asked for workout to be on a Tuesday, the day of most workouts, but NFL said it had to be this Saturday. He asked for a later Saturday; NFL said no.

Colin Kaepernick's reps asked the NFL for a list of personnel executives and coaches who would be attending the workout; they are hoping and expecting the NFL to submit the list of personnel executives and coaches that will attend on Saturday.

If Kaepernick has been training and preparing for a workout as he says he is, then he should be ready to roll on Saturday. Wanting to push things beyond Week 11 of the season would give him even less time to help a team this year.
As for wanting to work out on a Tuesday, teams usually have free agents they work out at their facilities that day of the week, making it more difficult for team employees to attend one elsewhere.
