Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday on two misdemeanor drunken-driving charges, hours after making his debut with the team.
According to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report and jail records, the 34-year-old was taken into custody around 1 a.m. in the 100 block of South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis. He faces preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving while intoxicated endangering a person.
As of Sunday morning, Allen was being held at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.
The arrest came less than 12 hours after Allen played in Indianapolis’ preseason finale against the Detroit Lions. Signed on August 19 to a one-year contract worth up to $8.32 million, he caught a 24-yard pass from Anthony Richardson on the opening drive and finished with one reception.
The Colts issued a brief statement:
“We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time,” they said.
Allen, a six-time Pro Bowl selection entering his 14th NFL season, spent most of his career with the Chargers and played for the Chicago Bears in 2024. He recorded 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns last season with Los Angeles.
Indianapolis must trim its roster from 90 to 53 players by 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday and opens the regular season September 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
League discipline remains possible depending on how the case proceeds.
