Cowboys get bad news on Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury
Dak Prescott left the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Atlanta Falcons with an injury on Sunday, and the quarterback is now expected to be out for a significant period of time.
Prescott went into the blue medical tent in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game with a hamstring injury, though Prescott also seemed to have injured his hand.
According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, tests have since revealed that Prescott’s hamstring injury is more serious than it looked initially. The 31-year-old is expected to miss multiple games.

The injury obviously could not come at a worse time for the Cowboys, who fell to 3-5 with their loss to Atlanta.
Prescott played at an MVP level last year. He signed a record 4-year, $240 million extension with the Cowboys this offseason. Prescott has thrown for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions thus far in 2024. He had just 9 interceptions all of last season.
The Cowboys have been plagued by injuries this season, most notably on defense. They will now have to try to get back in the playoff race without Prescott for at least a few games.
Cooper Rush took over after Prescott got hurt on Sunday and finished 13/25 for 115 yards and a touchdown. He will likely start for the Cowboys in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
