Dallas Cowboys fans should be encouraged by the latest word from team executive Stephen Jones regarding the status of quarterback Tony Romo.
Romo suffered a fractured vertebrae during the Cowboys’ preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 25 on this play. He was initially projected to miss 6-10 weeks, and Jones says Romo is doing well.
“He’s throwing the ball around now, so he’ll just keep doing more unless there is something that concerns us,” Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. “Right now everything is looking great. He’s feeling good and certainly feels good about the progress he’s making.”
Romo threw the ball around before the Cowboys’ win over Washington in Week 2. He also has been doing some weight work with a big brace on his back.
As for Romo’s return, Jones says the Cowboys “won’t push it.” That’s in contrast to last season when the Cowboys tried to rush Romo back and he ended up suffering another clavicle break.
The Cowboys have kept Romo on their active roster with hopes he could return prior to their Week 9 game against the Cleveland Browns in November. Jerry Jones offered this great quote on why they were keeping Romo on the roster.
