Cris Collinsworth delivered a very fitting line while announcing the Super Bowl on Sunday for NBC.
Just before the start of the second quarter of Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026 was introduced. The class includes Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly, Adam Vinatieri and Roger Craig. Announcer Mike Tirico praised the group.
“What a class of Hall of Famers we’ll see next summer in Canton, Ohio,” Tirico said.
That’s when Collinsworth chimed in with his fitting line.
“What a class that didn’t get in either,” Collinsworth noted.
Collinsworth was talking about Bill Belichick, who was snubbed from being a first-ballot Hall of Fame electee. Patriots owner Robert Kraft also was not elected.
Belichick being left out of the class was so controversial and egregious, that there is talk about potential changes being made to the process. Like Collinsworth said, the group who didn’t get in is just as noteworthy.
Brees and Fitzgerald made it into the Hall in their first time on the ballot. Kuechly made it on his second appearance.
