Dalvin Cook likely out vs. Packers due to shoulder injury

Dalvin Cook

Dalvin Cook suffered a shoulder injury during the Minnesota Vikings’ win over the Los Angeles Chargers last week, and the star running back is expected to miss at least one game.

Cook is unlikely to play in Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The Vikings can clinch a postseason berth with a win and are currently one game behind the Packers for first place in the AFC North.

Cook has been able to play through a shoulder ailment for part of the season, and Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said earlier in the week that the 24-year-old was feeling good. It’s unclear if Minnesota is planning to hold Cook out more for precautionary reasons, as he is a huge part of their offense and they will need him healthy for the playoffs. Schefter’s colleague, Courtney Cronin, was told the team is leaning toward shutting Cook down for December so he can be healthy if they reach the postseason.

While injuries have been an issue for Cook throughout his NFL career, he is enjoying a breakout season. He has more than 1,500 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns on the season.
