Darnell Dockett implies Darren Sharper deserves death sentence

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper entered his first guilty plea on Monday when he pleaded guilty to sexual assault in Arizona. Sharper admitted to sexually assaulting one woman and trying to attack another in the Phoenix area in 2013. He was sentenced to nine years in federal prison.

San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Darnell Dockett does not feel that the punishment fits the crime.

Shortly after Sharper was given his sentence, Dockett implied that he believes the 39-year-old deserves the death penalty.

If your consciously and admiringly raping women regardless of your profession or social status class, you deserve death. Just my opinion.

If you remember, Dockett tweeted a rape joke that had to do with Sharper when the accusations first surfaced last year.

Dockett isn’t the only one who feels that Sharper is getting off easy. One of Sharper’s former New Orleans Saints teammates, Scott Fujita, described Sharper’s nine-year sentence as “way too short.”

“He was a great teammate, a great player,” Fujita told TMZ on Monday. “But all that aside, it’s disgusting and beyond repulsive. Look, I’m a dad of 3 daughters … If he ends up only serving 9 years, it’s an absolute shame. It’s way too short.”

Sharper is expected to enter similar guilty pleas over the next month in Los Angeles, New Orleans and Las Vegas. The former Pro Bowler has been accused of drugging and raping numerous women. His attorney initially claimed to have video evidence that would exonerate Sharper, but a lot has happened since then. He’ll likely receive more prison time with his ensuing plea deals.
