Darrelle Revis will be the top free agent cornerback on the market when the Patriots decline his $20 million option for 2015, but that does not mean he will not be back in New England. In fact, Revis is said to be choosing between the Pats and New York Jets.
Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson says just what most people already figured — the Revis sweepstakes are down to the Patriots and Jets.
A report last week said the Jets, who are several million under the cap and have a serious need at cornerback, were preparing to make a big push to bring back Revis. The Jets drafted Revis in 2007 and he blossomed into the top cornerback in football with them. They traded him to the Buccaneers in 2013, and he only lasted there a season before heading to New England, where he won a Super Bowl in his first year.
The Patriots are not believed to be able to offer as much as the Jets, but Revis reportedly will choose to remain in New England if the offers are similar. One thing working against the Pats is that Revis reportedly really loves New York and would strongly consider a return to the Big Apple.
