Darrelle Revis attended the New York City premiere of “Concussion,” and the experience certainly stuck with the Jets’ cornerback.
“It makes you think about other things, but at the same time, I think I’ve still got a lot of football to play,” Revis told Newsday’s Kimberley Martin on Thursday. “But you never know with these things. This is something serious.”
Revis was particularly affected by the focus on Hall of Fame center Mike Webster, who was found to have CTE.
“It hit home pretty hard,” Revis said. “Him getting hit 77,000 times in the head — he [did] play a different position, but still.”
Revis is only three weeks removed from suffering a concussion of his own, so he’s very familiar with the symptoms and the risks. He also divulged that he enjoyed the film and thought it was “educational.” He also admitted that he was struck by how the league had known about the risks and “slid it under the rug.”
However, Revis says he has no regrets over his career choice and accepts the inherent risk involved. “This is what I dreamed of,” he said.
