The relationship between Darrelle Revis and the New England Patriots isn’t exactly as friendly at the moment as it was a year ago, but the six-time Pro Bowler is not holding that against a handful of his former teammates.
Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports that Revis is planning to work out with several Patriots defensive backs in Arizona this summer before training camp begins. Revis, Patriots safety Devin McCourty and others will train with Shotdown U’s Will Sullivan for two weeks beginning on July 12. The group, which also includes a potential Revis replacement in cornerback Logan Ryan, did the same last year.
Of course, Revis was not a member of the New York Jets when he trained with Bill Belichick’s crew a year ago. Still, New England’s defensive backfield appeared to be a tight-knit group last year and was a big reason the Patriots won the Super Bowl. Those relationships have a tendency to last.
Last month, Revis made some surprising comments about the Patriots and their “history” of cheating. There also may have been a minor incident with his mom not being able to retrieve Darrelle’s Super Bowl ring for him when she wanted to. Some of that has probably been overblown.
