The Las Vegas Raiders have struck one of the biggest trades of the NFL offseason, landing wide receiver Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers.
Multiple reports Thursday indicated that the Packers had traded Adams to the Raiders for a significant draft pick haul. Adams has agreed to a new contract with the Raiders as part of the deal. The Packers are receiving a first and second-round pick in this year’s draft as part of the deal.
The trade could be yet another game-changer in an AFC West that looks increasingly loaded with talent. The Raiders may have felt the need to answer after the Broncos brought in Russell Wilson, and this fits the bill.
Adams had been franchise tagged by Green Bay, but had reportedly made clear he would not play on it. The two sides were not believed to be close to a long-term contract agreement, which precipitated the deal.
It remains to be seen how Aaron Rodgers will respond to this considering how close he is with Adams. Green Bay’s offense will inevitably look very different in 2022.
