We had an inkling that this was coming, so it’s not an enormous surprise. It is also the potential end of his NFL career. Irving was suspended four games in 2017 for PEDs and another four games in 2018 for substance abuse. He was not a factor in 2018, appearing in just two games.
Irving has 12.5 sacks in 37 career games. The Cowboys were not planning to retain the pending free agent even before the league handed down its discipline.
