DeMarcus Ware served as a special consultant for one of his former teams last season, and with that arrangement coming to an end, he’s hoping to do the same for the other franchise close to his heart.
Ware said Sunday that he would like to help the Dallas Cowboys, specifically their pass rushers, and try to help instill what he calls a “championship mentality” in the team.
“I think it will be a great opportunity for me to come back here and coach the guys,” Ware said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “I always say I want to teach the championship mentality and if I can come here at least two or three days a week, teaching them Wednesdays and Thursdays and teach the pass rushers how to pass rush, stopping the run but then I always help the offensive line, like Tyron Smith, with their technique.

“The thing is I can still do it. You’ve got a coach that can get out there, not just say how to do it, can show tape that they remember on how to do it but then get out there and do it as well with them. That’s what I feel like the team needs.”
Ware served in a similar role to the one he describes on a part-time basis for the Denver Broncos in 2018. They finished in the top ten in the NFL with 44 sacks as a team, so maybe Ware was a part of bringing about that success on a team that wasn’t elite otherwise.
