Demaryius Thomas expecting to play through pain with hip injury

If Demaryius Thomas plays in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Denver Broncos wide receiver knows he won’t be feeling his best.

Thomas has been limited in practice this week with a hip injury, and he admitted on Thursday that he is less than 100 percent healthy. The star receiver said he has dealt with the injury for a while but it recently “flared up.”

“It’s day by day. I ain’t gonna be feeling great,” he said, according to Nick Groke of The Denver Post. “But it’s getting better every day,” Thomas said. “You pray about it, keep getting treatment, and hopefully by game day, you’re ready to go and nothing freaky happens.”

Thomas left Denver’s Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers after taking a hit on his second catch of the game, but he was able to return. He sounds like a true game-time decision for Sunday.

“Stopping out of breaks, going down field, even taking hits,” Thomas said. “With the hip, you never know.”

A previous report did not sound too promising for Thomas, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. It goes without saying that Trevor Siemian’s job would be a lot more difficult without his top target on the field.
