DeSean Jackson will protest during national anthem
Increased national anthem protests are expected on Sunday in response to President Trump’s comments made on Friday.
Speaking at a rally in Alabama, President Trump termed anyone who does not stand for the national anthem a “son of a b—-” and said NFL owners should fire those players. His comments sparked the strongest of responses from athletes, as well as from the NFL commissioner and the league’s owners.
Many athletes are upset over the comments and planning actions. Trump’s comments prompted the first MLB player to kneel for the anthem. Many more NFL players could follow suit.
One player who will protest is Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson. He declared his intention on Saturday:
#Bucs DeSean Jackson will not be standing for the National Anthem tomorrow. Says no disrespect to the military. He won't be alone.
