New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis needs a second surgery on his injured knee, and it is unclear when and if he will return this season.
Lewis, who tore his ACL last November, had not been participating in training camp.

Even before the news about a second surgery, there was some speculation that Lewis could begin the season on the physically unable to perform list and be out through Week 6. Tom E. Curran of CSSNE.com is reporting that Lewis’ second surgery does not involve the ACL and will require an 8-10 week time table.
Rex Ryan learned the hard way last season what Lewis is capable of. The Patriots don’t have much depth at running back to begin with, so losing Lewis would be a major blow.
