The Miami Dolphins plan to run things back for at least one more season.

Despite a disappointing 2024 campaign for Miami, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on Sunday backed both head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier. Ross released a statement to express his support following the Dolphins season finale against the New York Jets.

Ross also took accountability for the team’s shortcomings this season.

“As the owner of this team, I am ultimately accountable for our successes and failures,” the statement read. “We fell short of our expectations this season, and I understand and share in the frustration in our performance on the field.

“As we now look towards 2025, our football operation will continue to be led by Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel with my full support. Their positive working relationship is an asset to the Dolphins, and I believe in the value of stability.”

Ross clarified that the Dolphins’ decision does not equate to complacency. He added that the team will still take a “hard look” at what went wrong in 2024.

The Dolphins started the year with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, then proceeded to lose six of its next seven games. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also dealt with yet another head injury scare that had some calling for the Dolphins star to retire.

The team closed the year with a 6-3 record over its last 9 games. However, it wasn’t enough to get the Dolphins back in the playoffs for a third straight year.
