Shula’s 328 regular season wins are the most by any head coach in NFL history, as are his 347 total wins that include postseason play. He was the coach of the Baltimore Colts from 1963 to 1969 before going on to coach the Dolphins for 26 seasons. Shula led Miami to two Super Bowl victories, including when his 1972 Dolphins went undefeated. That team was the only one in NFL history to go undefeated through the regular and postseason.
It was not all that long ago that Shula was making feisty remarks over the New England Patriots’ cheating scandal. The Hall of Famer will be missed in Miami and beyond.
