Dre Kirkpatrick: Steve Smith looked like ‘trash’ against Bengals

Steve Smith

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. did not have his best day in his team’s win on Sunday, and Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick couldn’t wait to let the trash-talking legend hear about it.

If you remember, Smith was caught on the sidelines last year going off on an epic rant when he had a huge game against the Bengals. During the outburst, he listed the numbers of each Cincy defensive back individually and called them “trash.” Kirkpatrick didn’t forget.

“Eighty-nine said I was trash,” Kirkpatrick said, per Edward Lee of The Baltimore Sun. “If I’m trash, what did he do today? [Expletive], clean that up. Who was trash today? He said what he had to say last year. I just wanted to let him know, am I trash now? Eighty-nine looked to trash me, but he didn’t do anything.”

Smith caught just four passes for 20 yards on Sunday. Ironically, the Ravens lost the game last season in which Smith went on his “trash” rant and the Bengals lost when Kirkpatrick decided to return the favor. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Smith is having yet another productive season at age 37, and he is making no new friends along the way. He was recently criticized by a pair of rookie defensive backs, and you can read how he felt about that here. Smith may not be as fast as he once was, but his smack-talking ability is as good as ever.
