Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is doubling down on his media career with a big new role.

Brees is joining ESPN’s “First Take” for the remainder of the season. Brees will appear on “First Take” each Tuesday to share his thoughts on the previous weekend’s NFL games.

The former quarterback made his “First Take” debut on Tuesday, though he appeared remotely as opposed to in-studio. He certainly got into the spirit of the show quickly by dubbing the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense “boring.”

Drew Brees brings the heat in his First Take debut, calling the Eagles offense "boring" after not putting Jalen Hurts in his top NFL quarterbacks right now.

Brees has been trying to relaunch his stalled media career recently. He made a Week 3 appearance on FOX’s NFL pregame programming, and will also get another opportunity in the booth in December.

Previously, Brees spent the 2021 season doing studio work for NBC and calling some Notre Dame games. He received poor reviews for his work and departed after one season, though he still firmly believes in his capability as a broadcaster.

Brees joins “First Take” at a tumultuous time for the program. Longtime host Molly Qerim left the show abruptly earlier this month, and the network is essentially giving on-air tryouts to potential replacements. Brees, however, appears to be more of a replacement for Shannon Sharpe, who was fired by ESPN in July in light of high-profile sexual misconduct allegations.
