Drew Brees replaced by Teddy Bridgewater due to thumb injury

Drew Brees Aaron Donald

Drew Brees was replaced by Teddy Bridgewater during the first quarter of the New Orleans Saints’ game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday after suffering a thumb injury.

Brees hurt his right hand while attempting a pass on the Saints’ second possession of the game. His right hand was hit by Aaron Donald.

Brees clearly hurt his right thumb on the play. The Saints punted on the possession, and when their offense came onto the field for their next opportunity, Bridgewater was in the game. Brees stood on the sideline with his right hand wrapped. He was said to be questionable to return with a hand injury.

FOX’s announcers noted that Brees was not in the locker room undergoing testing on his hand and also that he wasn’t receiving treatment on the sideline for it either.
