Brees clearly hurt his right thumb on the play. The Saints punted on the possession, and when their offense came onto the field for their next opportunity, Bridgewater was in the game. Brees stood on the sideline with his right hand wrapped. He was said to be questionable to return with a hand injury.
FOX’s announcers noted that Brees was not in the locker room undergoing testing on his hand and also that he wasn’t receiving treatment on the sideline for it either.
