Drew Brees, Saints agree to one-year contract extension
Drew Brees and the Saints reportedly have agreed to a contract extension that appears to be a short-term solution that will keep the quarterback in New Orleans for another year.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the extension is for one year and will pay Brees $44.25 million guaranteed over the next two years.

ESPN’s Ed Werder explains that the extension is for five years but voids to two years.

The deal is a win-win for both sides because Brees will be paid slightly more money this year than he was originally set to earn, while the Saints receive more cap flexibility next year. The salaries will be $20 million in 2016 for Brees and $24.25 in 2017.
Brees, 37, threw for 32 touchdowns and 4,870 yards last season. He remains one of the more productive quarterbacks in the league despite his age.
