Late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game between the Cowboys and Giants, a costly mistake by Terrance Williams ending up dooming Dallas.
Facing a 3rd-and-10 on their own 46 yard line with 12 seconds left in regulation and the Cowboys down by one point, Dak Prescott passed to a wide open Terrance Williams. Williams made the reception with a clear path to head out of bounds before time expired, which would have set up up a potential game-winning field goal attempt. However, Williams ran forward to gain extra yardage. Unfortunately, there was not enough time left after he was tackled for Dallas to line up and spike the ball before the clock showed all zeroes.
"Get out of bounds!!!" – Everyone, probably. #NYGvsDAL https://t.co/mD0qyhECyt

There is, of course, no guarantee Dan Bailey would have converted the long field goal attempt had Williams gone out of bounds. On the other hand, we will never know because he didn’t get the opportunity.
Not surprisingly, Williams was the subject of ridicule on social media after the game. Video game manufacturer EA Sports even got in on the act, making a joke about his awareness rating.

Deion Sanders also took a shot at Williams, saying everyone isn’t built for the moment.

A tough way to lose for the Cowboys indeed. And, it’s a good bet no one feels worse about it than Terrance Williams.
