Eagles congratulate Andy Reid on Super Bowl victory

andy Reid Super Bowl

Andy Reid has been an NFL head coach since 1999, but it wasn’t until Sunday night that he finally won his first Super Bowl.

In his 21st season as an NFL head coach, Reid took home the prize after his Kansas City Chiefs won 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. Many in the sport will be thrilled for him, as he’s waited a long time for his reward.

Perhaps the nicest tribute, however, came from the Philadelphia Eagles. Reid was their head coach for 14 seasons from 1999 through 2012, falling short in the NFC Championship four times plus one Super Bowl loss. As a result, the Eagles were among the first to congratulate Reid on his triumph.

Reid is still close with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who made no secret of how hard he was rooting for Reid in Sunday’s game.

Reid received plenty of tributes after the win, but this may be the most meaningful. After the Eagles won their Super Bowl two years ago, plenty of people in Philadelphia will be thrilled now that Reid got his as well.
