Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is set to become a free agent after the season, and there’s a chance he could end up returning to the place where his NFL career began.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are likely to pursue Jackson during the offseason and “multiple teams” believe the 30-year-old could return to Philadelphia. The Eagles are said to be looking for a speedy wide receiver to add a deep-threat element to their offense, and Jackson and Philly head coach Doug Pederson are “big admirers” of each other.
Jackson actually had his best season as a pro before the Eagles released him following the 2013 season. He had career highs in receptions (82) and yards (1,332) that year and hauled in nine touchdown receptions. However, off-field concerns and differences with former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly ultimately led to a divorce.
Jackson returning to Philly would certainly be an intriguing storyline, as he has had some spats with the fans there since he left. The Redskins could try to re-sign Jackson, but they are going to need to shell out a lot of money if they want to keep quarterback Kirk Cousins.
