The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense has become a big enough problem that several star players are trying to get it fixed on their own time.

Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice reported that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, RB Saquon Barkley, and WR AJ Brown met for “a couple hours” on Monday to try to iron out issues with the offense. Kempski characterized the meeting as a positive one.

On Tuesday, Hurts confirmed the meeting and said it was simply a case of teammates trying to improve the team’s collective ability.

“That’s just us talking about the collective,” Hurts said. “Talking about taking ownership for what we can, talking about how to move forward as a team so we can continue to find ways to win games.”

Sunday’s shocking home loss to the Denver Broncos appears to have pushed the Eagles to a bit more of a sense of urgency. Brown and Hurts failed to connect on a likely touchdown pass during the second half, and Brown essentially threw Hurts under the bus despite the fact that he let up briefly on the play.

The Eagles are 4-1 and well-positioned for the rest of the season. However, they have only reached 300 yards of total offense twice in those five games, and multiple players are said to be unhappy with their roles. Barkley only has 267 rushing yards through five games after crossing the 2,000-yard mark last season.

The team has a short week this week as they face the New York Giants on the road Thursday night. It remains to be seen whether any of their behind-the-scenes work will yield some improved results in that game.
