Eagles sign former Bengals draft bust
The Philadelphia Eagles are taking a shot at a former high-profile first-round pick.
The Eagles announced Thursday that they have agreed to terms with wide receiver John Ross on a one-year deal. Ross will join the team for training camp in a bid to make the roster.

Ross is attempting a comeback after his NFL career seemingly flamed out three years ago. The Cincinnati Bengals made him the No. 9 overall pick in 2017 aftre he famously shattered an NFL Combine record with a 4.22 40-yard dash time, though that mark has since been bested. Ultimately, Ross had a hard time staying healthy, and he did not really impress even when he was. He wound up catching just 51 passes for 733 yards as a member of the Bengals.
The Eagles probably are not expecting too much from Ross, though it is worth noting they just had a veteran wide receiver abruptly retire. Perhaps Ross could play his way into a roster spot if he can impress during training camp.
