Report: Many Eagles players dislike Chip Kelly
The sky is officially falling in Philadelphia in the wake of the Eagles’ embarrassing 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. If things continue along this path over the final six games of the season, a coaching change could come sooner rather than later.
On Monday’s edition of “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith claimed he has spoken to people who cover the NFL and heard the same thing several times — many of Kelly’s players don’t like him
“Talk to any of these guys covering the league and they will tell you this type of stuff going on in Philadelphia — they haven’t seen this,” Smith said, according to SportsGrid. “I’m telling you, there’s a whole bunch of dudes in that locker room who do not like Chip Kelly.”
There are people in every single line of work who dislike their boss, so that isn’t exactly earth-shattering stuff. However, it does mesh with a report we heard earlier this season about Kelly being in danger of losing his locker room.
Kelly said he had no explanation for how his team allowed 45 points to the Bucs at home, but he shot down the notion that some of his players quit on him in the second half. Mark Sanchez certainly didn’t help by throwing three interceptions while playing in place of the injured Sam Bradford.
There’s always a risk of things becoming hostile when you don’t live up to expectations, and the Eagles have fallen well short of theirs. If they don’t figure it out soon, the rumors about Kelly taking high-profile college jobs like this one will only get louder.
