Ex-Steelers player says writing was on wall with Antonio Brown in 2012

Antonio Brown could finally be headed for a divorce with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason in the wake of his latest reported selfish antics, and one of his former teammates says he could have predicted many years ago that this day would come.

Ex-Steelers safety Ryan Clark, who now works as an analyst for ESPN, shared a story on Monday that painted Brown as a player who has always put himself ahead of the team. Clark says he warned some members of Pittsburgh’s coaching staff that the team was “going to create a monster” just before the star wide receiver signed a five-year, $42.5 million extension during the 2012 offseason.

“That day at practice, Antonio and I almost got into a fight because he was saying things to (former Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau),” Clark recalled. “He’s screaming at coach LeBeau, screaming at us defensively, ‘Don’t touch me, I’m the franchise,’ this and that.”

Clark added that he believes the Steelers need to find a way to trade Brown this offseason.

This isn’t the first time Clark has been hard on Brown, as he also unloaded on him last year over some of Brown’s infamous sideline outbursts.

Brown missed Pittsburgh’s final game of the season on Sunday, and reports began to trickle out on Monday that he was benched for disciplinary reasons after he voluntarily skipped practices during the week. He apparently decided not to attend practice because of an altercation he had with Ben Roethlisberger.
