Ezekiel Elliott admits he did not expect deal to get done Tuesday night
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was pleased to wake up to a deal on Wednesday morning — but he was a bit surprised, too.
Elliott admitted Wednesday that he went to bed “in a bad place” on Tuesday, as he did not see a deal getting done with the Cowboys when it ultimately did.
Ezekiel Elliott said he didn’t expect the contract to get done when he went to bed last night, saying he “went to bed in a bad place.” Was informed by phone around 6 a.m. deal was done.

It’s an interesting window to where the sides thought talks stood hours before a deal was agreed. We heard recently that Elliott’s camp was more optimistic about getting a deal done, but even Elliott was clearly beset by doubts as late as Tuesday. While negotiations were ongoing for a while, it sounds as if the deal went from close to done very quickly.
