FBI arrests man who said he planned to kill Steelers players, fans

A Texas man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly spoke of plans to kill multiple people — including players — at Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to an affidavit obtained by KSAT 12, 30-year-old Yuttana Choochongkol of San Antonio was arrested after a disturbing threat he issued Thursday was discovered.

“This Sunday’s playoff game in Pittsburgh is going to be like no other. Why? Because it’s going to be my last day on this pathetic planet,” Choochongkol wrote on social media. “So why not take some innocent lives with me? The Steelers game will be packed, and that’s when I plan on killing Steelers football players and fans before taking my own pitiful life. After all, what does a person that is going to commit suicide have to lose? Absolutely nothing. So why not take out some million dollar Steelers players before me? Sounds like a good idea. Hahahahahah.”

The director of security for Heinz Field received a similar threat later that day, and the FBI was able to trace the IP address to a company called Worldwide Clinical Trials in San Antonio. Workers at the facility identified Choochongkol, who has been a medical trial subject with the company 25 times since 2011, as the suspect. Choochongkol has been charged with making a terroristic threat.

Security at Heinz Field will likely be on heightened alert for Sunday’s divisional matchup.
