The end is not yet in sight for Steph Curry when it comes to his NBA career.
The Golden State Warriors star saw his season come to an end on Friday night in a 111-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns to close out the play-in tournament. The 12-time All-Star showed some of his age in the contest, scoring just 17 points on 4/16 shooting from the floor at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Ariz.
The 38-year-old spoke candidly with reporters during his postgame press conference about his plan for the offseason, which he made clear does not include any preparations for a retirement tour.
Curry was asked how many years he saw himself playing beyond this one.
“Multiple, for sure,” Curry said before cracking a joke. “That’s more than one, right? Perfect.”
The 2-time MVP played in just 43 regular-season games due to a lingering knee issue — his fewest since the 2019-20 season. He wore a thick, padded brace on his right knee against the Suns and was noticeably in discomfort throughout the game.
Curry assured reporters that his knee is expected to make a full recovery in the offseason through some medical care and consistent rounds of golf. Steph also expressed his support for Steve Kerr, whose popularity has taken a hit among Warriors fans of late.
When Curry did play this season, he was as effective as ever. He averaged 26.6 points on 46.8 percent shooting to go along with 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Curry may have “multiple” years left, but the same doesn’t apply to LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers star has had to answer similar questions on his retirement heading into the playoffs, and sounds much more ready to hang up his sneakers than Curry does.
