Has Fireman Ed given up on the Jets?
Just how bad have things gotten for the New York Jets? A 4-7 record is pretty bad. A 49-19 loss at home to a division rival is really bad. Losing Fireman Ed’s endorsement is catastrophic.
According to Newsday, Fireman Ed was seen leaving at halftime of New York’s blowout loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday when the Jets were trailing 35-3. He reportedly did not return.
Maybe Ed had a family emergency or something extremely important that he needed to tend to. Just because he is arguably the biggest Jets fan on the planet and leads 80,000 people in the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS chant doesn’t mean he has no responsibilities outside of MetLife Stadium. But a family emergency wouldn’t help explain why he deleted his Twitter account.
Fireman Ed’s Twitter account — where he recently blasted the NY Daily News for its story about anonymous Jets players ripping Tim Tebow — was also deactivated at some point during Thursday’s loss. Perhaps he was just furious and will get over it, but all signs seem to point to the man who is known for shoving Giants fans and being one of the most hardcore fans in the NFL having given up on Rex Ryan and company.
