FOX captures what may be the best camera angle in NFL history

The NFL is celebrating season No. 100 here in 2019, so it seems only fitting that revolutionary camera angles get their due after decades of evolution. And as fate would have it, FOX may have captured the single greatest view of a live game that we’ve ever seen.

During a Week 7 game between the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints, the FOX “skycam” was able to track a kickoff from the tee to endzone, where it zeroed in on Cordarrelle Patterson, who conveniently fielded the ball and took it back 102 yards to the house.

The person operating the skycam was able to stay on Patterson for the duration, while maneuvering the angles to such a perfect degree that it not only caught the speed and violence of the game, but the beauty in the chaos.

The entire 23-second clip from the skycam came together like a perfect storm. The camera operator was flawlessly timed with the kickoff, the viewers got downfield fast enough to see the entire play unfold, Patterson made the decision to bring the ball out (a rarity in the NFL these days), his cut to the right opened the view up even more and to cap it all off, the camera circled around to catch the culmination of the play.

We’ll probably see something like this again in the future, but for now, it’s a first — and something that got just about everyone excited.

This might be the best view of any NFL play we’ve ever had. You can see the speed, quickness and vision of the returner. This is beyond awesome for the fans. pic.twitter.com/D8xa5RSM6F

“This deserves an Oscar,” another Twitter user wrote.

It does. It does deserve an Oscar. The beauty of this capture can not be overstated.
