Mark Sanchez will be away from FOX indefinitely after he was stabbed during an incident that led to his arrest last weekend, and the network has named a new replacement for him in Week 6.

FOX announced on Thursday that Mark Schlereth will serve as the game analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Myers for Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Schlereth, a former Pro Bowl offensive lineman and three-time Super Bowl champion, has been with FOX as an analyst since 2017.

Sanchez was stabbed multiple times early Saturday morning during an altercation in Indianapolis, Ind. He had been in the city to call the Week 5 game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders. Police have said they have evidence proving Sanchez was the aggressor in the incident and that a 69-year-old truck driver stabbed the former NFL quarterback in self-defense.

Sanchez was arrested hours after the incident and is facing multiple charges, including at least one felony that carries a prison sentence.

Brady Quinn replaced Sanchez on FOX’s broadcast of the Raiders-Colts game. The network has yet to name a full-time replacement for Sanchez and is handling the situation on a week-to-week basis at the moment.

Sanchez has also been sued by the man who stabbed him. It is unclear if the 38-year-old will return to FOX at all this season or in the future.
